Your Trainers– Sharon Gaskin

Sharon Gaskin is the founder of The Trainers Training Company and she works with freelance trainers to help them create and grow successful and profitable training businesses.

Sharon has 21 years experience in Training and Development both as a Corporate Training Manager and Freelance Consultant. Following a relocation to the Midlands in 2001 she took the plunge and went freelance which was particularly challenging having moved to a new area with no contacts! Sharon will freely admit it was a very painful process to begin with, she made loads of mistakes in her first year but eventually she managed to create a successful training business with many corporate clients such as Zurich, Europ Assistance and Lloyds Register Quality Assurance.

In 2009 Sharon set up the Trainers Training Company. One of the biggest frustrations for her when she started out as a freelance trainer was the lack of information and support to help her start up and grow her business. There was a lot of generic advice around on starting a business but nothing specific to the training industry. Sharon was finding increasingly that because people knew that she was doing it they started coming to her for advice on the things they should do become a freelance trainer, things like

• “How do I get corporate clients?”
• “How should I market myself?”
• “How do I work out what to charge?”

So Sharon created The Trainers Training Company which is a 1 stop shop for freelance trainers to help them create and grow their businesses – and the rest is history!

Jill Mytton

Since 1996 Jill has been working as a training consultant and during that time she has trained in excess of 2,000 people. She has designed and delivered a range of courses from management training to sales skills, employment law to interview training. She has also been a university tutor for the Open University Business School in Creative Management.

This year she has delivered training in Kuwait on emotional intelligence, and in the UK on competency interviewing and diversity awareness. She has an interactive motivational style of training and is a dedicated learning practitioner who takes time to continually enhance her skills.

This year she gained PTLLS Level 4 on an intensive week’s programme. She also coaches executives and is a business mentor. She is currently studying for a Diploma in Coaching & Mentoring with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
